Yasushi Yoshida 吉田靖 was born in November 1978 in Osaka, Japan. He writes, produces and performs music focusing on piano and guitar arrangements. Yoshida began making his name as a composer, contributing to multi-award winning dance companies, BABY-Q’s solo dance performances and various plays and films in Japan. Not content with working solely within the music scene, Yasushi Yoshida has also contributed material to areas as diverse as theatre and visual arts.

His last work “Little Grace” is still one of my favourite album with the unique positive, subtle, beautiful, elegant modern classical/post rock music….you can compare his music with the sort of post rock acts like Sigur Ros, etc…..just too beautiful to purify the whole world and fragile hearts!!!

If ‘Little Grace’ is a bit too melancholy and sad…..this new album ‘Grateful Goodbye’ is appeared to be more bright more optimistic and musically more dense…...but you still can sense his trademark orchestral arrangement of beauty, sympathy, positivity and melancholy that make emotional tears dropped from everyone’s fragile heart for such extraordinary music…...when everyone in this crazy capital world goes mad including the same-styled World’s End Girlfriend in his recent album, Yasushi Yoshida still stands firm and stays clam to praise the greatest of life and destiny!!!

The King's Speech

(My Rating: 3.8/5)

The King's Speech is a 2010 British historical drama film directed by Tom Hooper and written by David Seidler. Colin Firth plays King George VI, who, to overcome his stutter, is introduced to Lionel Logue, an unorthodox Australian speech therapist played by Geoffrey Rush. The two men become friends as they work together, and after his brother abdicates, the new king relies on Logue to help him make a radio broadcast at the beginning of World War II according to Wikipedia.

An Oscar’s big winner movie….To be fair, it’s a good (but not excellent) movie with very good production, photography and actor/actress acting performance. So, it’s understandable for Colin Firth to win the Best Actor award (though I think it’s not his best and his play in “Single Man” is even better). For Best Director, well, it’s ok though not too convincing for me….but I really have hesitation for this movie to win Best Picture award as the whole movie is quite flat and single line that is not quite memorable, convincing and moving as the type of award-winning movie we all can recall….maybe it’s world war II historical epic nature helps a lot!!!

Mogwai - Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will

(My Rating: 4/5)

Listen Mogwai’s new album is like seeing a bunch of best-of-the-peer veteran laughingly jumping on stage with so much energy after a long holiday rest or good sleep last night and playing their best songs of their career in front of their loyal fans in a casual private mini concert……no new stuff, everything’s just a relaxing, enjoying and pleasant experience….

After rather disappointing "Mr. Beast" and "The Hawk Is Howling" that I’ve just no idea what’s the new direction they really wanted to go, Mogwai release their 7th album, Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will. Mogwai still can’t produce any new things out this time, but this Scottish band provides an excellent complication of their best music style of their long career in a warmly dedicated and confident way…….makes their fans feeling like Mogwai coming home and getting closer to everyone!!

ATP Festival - I'll Be Your Mirror, Studio Coast Tokyo, 27 February 2011

ATP festival had been a cool icon of music events in UK for many years with wide range of cool indie, avant-garde and experimental music artiists. After expanding aborad to Australia and New York, ATP festival has at last landed Asia this year in Tokyo. So I take few days off to fly there to see this ATP event especially for the mighty Goodspeed....

It's interesting to see the first introduction wordings in this ATP event booklet "So the big question is why did we bring I'll Be Your Mirror to Japan and not ATP? Well we still plan to bring ATP and this event is to serve as an appetizer to ATP's main course."....a really good news to have good chance having 3-day ATP festival some days in near future.

This mini festival was hosted in a venue called studio coast....everything is fine for the venue except the size is not big enough....I just felt so crowd to leave the stage for beer, toilet, locker or even a fresh air.....it's also a down side to see Keiji Haino, Envy and Melt Banana played in a too-small stage 2 that many audiences just can;t get in.....nevertheless, overall speaking, this one-day event is still good and memorable for me especially for the stunning performance of Godspeed, Dirty Three and Boredoms.....you might take a look of below video clips and photos to experience the event.....
